The Richmond Flex Home was a pilot project including the City of Richmond and major utilities. Constructed in Richmond’s sought-after Steveston community, the home was built to adapt to the changing needs of a family. Homeowners could occupy both or just one floor while renting the other out. Aging in place was a concept being introduced into new construction permitting homeowners to remain in their homes as the house adapted to their changing mobility or health limitations.
